Every Christian is a minister of the Lord Jesus. In our homes, neighborhoods, churches, and on our jobs, we serve the Lord Jesus and His gospel. In fulfilling this high calling, what are the qualities in our ministries that honor God? In the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians, chapter two, he gives us the marks of such a ministry.
In light of a positive COVID test of a member in our church and the desire for us to be wise and protective, this Lord’s Day service will be live streamed only. We also will take a one week departure from our 1 Thessalonian study to be in one of the most encouraging chapters in the Bible when times are most discouraging – Isaiah 40.
This Lord’s Day, we continue in the New Testament book of 1 Thessalonians looking at the ministry God honors. In chapter two, the Apostle Paul defends his ministry against slanders and critics but not for his sake, but for Christ, His Gospel, and the spiritual health of the young Thessalonian believers. Here we find a model of our own ministries and how to properly defend it against those who would seek to discredit and damage its Gospel effectiveness.
This Lord’s Day, we continue looking at the Thessalonian believers and the evidence of lives changed by the Gospel. In this look, the evidence the gospel is changing us will be in our spreading the gospel with words and affirming the gospel by our living.
This Lord’s Day, we look at the Thessalonians and see the evidence of lives changed by the Gospel. What we will encounter serves us well to evaluate our lives to see how the Gospel has changed and is changing our lives.
