Pleasing God, Making Disciples of Jesus Christ

Beating The Blues

Every Christian goes through those spiritual experiences called “the blues”; those down times of sadness, maybe discouragement or depression, that just don’t have a cause. We are not in sin. Nor are we totally dysfunctional. We simply are stuck in a spiritual fog that has taken the spring out of our step, the joy to be less in our hearts, and the routines of life almost like little balls and chains dragging us down. However, we can get through “the blues” and that quite quickly if we learn to do four things. Let’s consider them today.

Make It Count

I believe all Christians share two commonalities when it comes to time. First, we complain there just isn’t enough of it. In the frantic pace of life, often self-imposed, we seem to have so much to do and so little time to do it. A second common trait in Christians, actually all humans, is we waste time. Now don’t be quick to defend yourself. We do it. A minute here, a minute there, soon turns into hours. We must fight against the foolish and unwise investment of our most precious resource – time – on things that won’t matter when it comes to that day of all days – our Day of Judgment before the Lord Jesus.

Just Let It Be

Luke 1:30-38 – And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give…

Christ: Sufficient For All Our Needs

1 Corinthians 1:30-31 – And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” THEME OF THE DAY. CHRIST: SUFFICIENT FOR ALL OUR NEEDS. Are you a confused Christian going through a hard time needing direction…

The Christian Life In One Verse

Galatians 2:20 – I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. THEME OF THE DAY. THE CHRISTIAN LIFE IN ONE VERSE. Count how many times…

Three Realities In The Christian Life

John 16:33 – I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” THEME OF THE DAY. THREE REALITIES IN THE CHRISTIAN LIFE. The title of today’s nugget is rather simplistic. I know there are more than three realities in the Christian life.…
