Pleasing God, Making Disciples of Jesus Christ

Ephesians

Family Resemblance

EPHESIANS 1:3-6 – Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through…

When I Am Afraid (Part 12) The Fear of Death

In our continuing series “When I am Afraid”, we come to the point of facing what is the greatest fear in the human experience – the fear of death. It is part of original sin in all humans that occurred in the Garden of Eden and continues to this day. This Lord’s Day, we want to look at the categories of death – physical, spiritual, and eternal with particular emphasis on spiritual death.

Out Of Necessity And Delight

EPHESIANS 3:14-19 – For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and…

The Prayer that Defines and Directs the Christian Life – Part 15

The Apostle Paul prays that believers would “be strengthened by God’s Spirit in our inner being so that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith” (Ephesians 3:17). The questions we are faced with are, “What does it mean for Christ to dwell in the hearts of believers?” and “What type of heart will Christ dwell?” Lord willing, we aim to answer those relevant questions.

The Prayer that Defines and Directs the Christian Life – Part 14

The Apostle Paul prays that believers would “be strengthened by God’s Spirit in our inner being so that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith” (Ephesians 3:17). The question is, “Who is this Christ we pray to dwell in our hearts?” He is the Exalted Christ and no greater place to see Him in such glory is the Revelation and particularly the worship scene in chapters four and give. This Lord’s Day morning, we seek to behold the Exalted Christ – the Lion and Lamb – revealed in Revelation 5.

The Prayer that Defines and Directs the Christian Life – Part 13

This Lord’s Day morning, we continue our study of the Apostle Paul’s second prayer for the believers in Ephesus. Lord willing, we enter into the substance of the second petition – being strengthened by God’s Spirit in our inner being so that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith. In an age of much spiritual activity, we need to ensure the Jesus we claim to know and pray to dwell within us is the Jesus of the Bible and not our imagination. In this service, we will be in Revelation 4 observing the Throne of God to see the Exalted Christ as He is now in that holy place. .
