The Importance of the Petition: Hallowed be Your Name
– It is first in the three opening petitions which focus on God showing us all of life is God-centered not us centered
– It reminds us that the chief end of prayer is God’s honor
– It reminds us that our needs are secondary in our approach to God
– It reminds us this petition is only possible for those who know God as FatherThe ways we may hallow His name
– Handle His name with great care and reverence – Exodus 20:7, Lev. 20:3, Lev. 21:6, Lev. 22:2, 32
– Be content in all things in life – Proverbs 30:7-9
– Live aware we bear and represent His name – 2 Timothy 2:19
– Make worship of the God revealed in His name a lifestyle – Psalm 63:4; 96:2; 103:1; 113: 1-2; 145:1-2
– Exercise faith in the roles of God revealed in His names – Isaiah 9:6
