JOHN 17:20–21 – I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”
If you were restricted to giving the answer to the following question with only three things, what would they be? Here is the question . . . “What are three truths about God that amaze you?” I confess it is hard because there are so many but think about it. To do so will lead to praise and the spirit of thanksgiving. And if we keep our answers fresh in our minds, they will transform our Christian lives.
As we compile our lists, I am sure some of the truths of Him might be His mercy, kindness, sacrifice, commitment, faithfulness, and grace. And there are truths I didn’t include, and they will be my list of three that follows. It is okay to “borrow” mine for your list as well!
First, be amazed at God’s unchanging love for us – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). Why does God love us? Because He does! It isn’t because we are worthy, we are not. It isn’t because we earned it, we can’t. It isn’t because of anything within us. We are loved by God because He chose to love us. Be overwhelmed with this truth
Next, be amazed at God’s enduring patience with us, not only before we became His children, but after – But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness (Psalm 86:15). Don’t lose sight of this amazing truth. Recall all the times of backsliding, even over “little sins” and how God dealt with us. Yes, with chastisement as our Heavenly Father, and it might be severe and painful, but it is out of His love. Let His patience prompt the development of patience in us.
Finally, be amazed over what we read of our God in today’s scripture – Jesus prays for us, and not just a little but all the time. The writer to Hebrews tells us the frequency of our Lord’s praying for us – Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them (Hebrews 7:25). This is beyond amazing – our Creator/Redeemer prays for us constantly. What love! What patience! What amazing truth!
May God help us to be saturated in our minds, hearts, and lives with His amazing truths that lead to a life of worship and influence for the Lord Jesus!
PRAYER: “Father, I praise You for Your Son’s death for me and His forever life praying for me.”
QUOTE: “Jesus prays for you. Constantly. Let that move you to seek Him with all your heart.”
